P. Hux's Homemade Spaceship Re-Invents The Classic Hits of ELO
|

Since joining ELO Part II in 1998 P. Hux has performed the hits of ELO in their original style hundreds of times. Now he's made them his own. Homemade Spaceship is an album of classic ELO songs like you've never heard them before:
- "Sweet Talkin' Woman" has been shed of her jaunty strut and sweet-talked into a comfy acoustic waltz.
- Familiar with Bev Bevan's famous tape-looped drumming on "Don't Bring Me Down"? Goodbye drums, hello ten tracks of insane guitars from Hux and his buddy from Paul McCartney's band, Rusty Anderson! (Don't Bring Me Down has already been awarded Single of the Week on Popbang Radio....)
Stripped down or fully rockin', the 12 tracks on Homemade Spaceship all have the unmistakable P. Hux sound. For fans of ELO and P. Hux, Spaceship is the best of both worlds.

| How Homemade Spaceship came about...
"I was in a meeting with Lakeshore Records to discuss a completely different business idea when they proposed that I record 'an acoustic ELO album.' Everyone knows ELO music is dense in a nice way, packed with guitars and strings and lots of vocals as well as other squiggly little items such as vocoder bits and recordings of rain. (Rain--it's an English thing.)
Intrigued, I tried arranging Sweet Talkin' Woman and Do Ya for just voice and acoustic guitar. The treatment worked really nicely for both songs, and I agreed to do the project. But I wanted to do more than just a quiet album, so I got carried away and brought in Gordon Townsend to play drums on five songs. I also had my old pal Rusty Anderson (guitarist from Paul McCartney's band) join me in the studio along with pianist Nic Peroni (who'd played on Purgatory Falls) and some mysterious special guests.
The finished product is a whole new monster and not your classic ELO at all. The entire album was recorded at Soundmoves in Burbank, California, a studio owned and operated by the brilliant Michael Woodrum. Michael's worked with people like Eric Clapton, Joe Cocker, and more recently Joss Stone."

Early reaction to Homemade Spaceship from press and fans...
|
| Jay Anderson, PopBang Radio:
"Parthenon Huxley's new CD of ELO covers seems logical, since he is a member of The Orchestra (formerly ELO Part II), as well as a critically acclaimed solo artist. On Homemade Spaceship P. Hux tackles 12 of ELO's classics in his own way, mostly acoustical, and incredibly well done. His version of "Don't Bring Me Down" is quirky and original, and is a fitting finish to an album that shows his passion and ultimate respect for the music of ELO." |

|
| Bruce Brodeen, Not Lame:
"Holy Cow this is awesome! P. Hux has created an album that covers twelve Electric Light Orchestra songs and re-interprets them in his own, purely pop kinda way. He makes these songs sound fresh, new, vibrant." |

| Christophe Gautier, France:
"Homemade Spaceship is a very good album, and maybe, i can almost say 'a new album', because Hux made new songs with the wonderful songs of ELO, it is not a cover. It's like a journey on another ELO planet. You should take your ticket, if it's not done." |
