Grand Ole Orchestry

The Orchestra were the surprise musical guests at a convention in Nashville recently. We performed at the Grand Ole Opry, which was a great honor.  It's up there with Royal Albert Hall in my book.

This circle was taken from the original Opry, the Ryman Auditorium. It's in the center of the stage, the star spot.

We couldn't find a star, so I stood on the spot instead.

Nashville is an alluring place. You leave the airport and banners hanging from poles proclaim, "Music Fills The Air."  A billboard advertises the Johnny Cash Museum.  Another announces a new album. Nice.

Our band doesn't carry all our gear. We use amps and drums and other stuff supplied by "backline" companies. Our rider requests an acoustic 12-string guitar which I play on "Sweet Talkin' Woman", "Living Thing", "Fire On High" and "Xanadu."  One never knows what kind of acoustic guitar will show up…and sometimes things can get a bit dicey...but in Nashville I was provided with a gorgeous, easy to play Taylor 12-String. Thank you, S.I.R.! It really makes a difference!
